BARF DIET EXAMPLE
It is important
the dogs eat a variety of food, veggies and fruit.
FEED EVERYTHING
RAW, NOT COOKED
FISH: (Preferably
fresh, or canned if not available fresh but canned has a lot of salt).
Salmon, mackerel,
sardines. I bake the salmon for 3-4 minutes. When traveling I use
canned salmon, mackerel, sardines or tuna.
VEGGIES:
(Pulverised in Cuisinart)
Swiss chard,
spinach, carrots, green beans, sweet potato, broccoli, cauliflower,
parsley, zucchini, kale, and a small turnip. Whatever is in season is
good and usable. Squash: We grind acorn and butternut squash in
the Cuisinart, with the skin on.
FRUIT: (Chopped or
diced fine, depends what each dog prefers)
Apples, tomatoes,
mangos, bananas, oranges or whatever is in season
MEAT MIX:
Consisting of RAW
coarsely ground or chopped rump roast, coarsely ground or chopped RAW
lamb or chopped RAW chicken or turkey.
BONES: ALL RAW
RAW chicken wings,
backs or necks. Oxtails, Marrow Bones, Turkey Necks
Give Marrow bones
two times a week. Great for dental care!
EGGS: Organic
Four mornings a
week, raw crushed with their shells.
ORGAN MEAT:
Give calves or
lambs liver 2-3 times a week, 2 tablespoons
COTTAGE CHEESE
& YOGURT: (Low Fat)
Preferably organic
and must be plain. (Stoneyfields available at the supermarket)
VITAMINS:
Shaklee's Vitamin
E (400IU) , B-Complex, Vita Lea Multi vitamin and Esther C Vitamin C
along with a varied combination of Flax oil, Borage oil, Cod
Liver oil, hemp oil and omega fish oil, and also raw honey,
Kelp and Cider vinegar.
SAMPLE DAILY
FEEDING FOR A FULL GROWN BITCH:
Morning:
1 cup meat or fish
or 1 can drained salmon or 3 cans drained sardines
¼ to 1/3
cup veggies
¼ to 1/3
cup squash
1/3 cup yogurt
1 whole raw egg 4
days a week
Chopped Fruit 4
days a week
Morning Vitamins:
1 tab Shaklee Vita Lea
1 tab Shaklee Vita E
1 tab Shaklee B Complex
2 Tab Ester C
2 Tabs Shaklee
Omega Guard
1 Tab Salmon oil
1 teaspoon Kyolic
liquid garlic or 1 clove Raw garlic
1 Tablespoon Kelp
1 Tablespoon cider vinegar
1 teaspoon Honey
1 tablespoon Flax
oil or 1 tablespoon Hemp oil or ½ teaspoon Borage oil or 1
teaspoon Cod Liver oil
½ Teaspoon
Animal Essentials (Plant Enzymes and Probiotics)
Evening:
Same food as
morning but ¼ cup Cottage Cheese instead of yogurt, no egg or fruit
Evening Vitamins:
1 tab Ester C
1 tab Shaklee Vita Lea
1 tab Shaklee Vita E
1 tab Shaklee Zinc
1 tab Shaklee
Omega Guard
1 tab Shaklee B complex
½ Teaspoon
Animal Essentials (Plant Enzymes and Probiotics)
3 Chicken wings as
snacks every second day
